The Al Purdy A-frame Association (APAFA) is delighted to announce the shortlist for the 2025 Al & Eurithe Purdy Poetry Prize. The jury, composed of Laisha Rosnau, Sam Solecki and Sid Marty, has selected the following five books for the shortlist:

The Astonishing Room by Brian Bartlett (Frontenac House)
In the Capital City of Autumn by Tim Bowling (Wolsak & Wynn)
Great Silent Ballad by A.F. Moritz (House of Anansi Press)
A Year of Last Things by Michael Ondaatje (McClelland & Stewart)
The Salmon Shanties: A Cascadian Song Cycle by Harold Rhenisch (U of Regina Press)

The winner will be announced on April 21, 2025, to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Al Purdy’s passing. The $10,000 prize, established in 2024 by Eurithe Purdy, honours the most outstanding new poetry book published by an established Canadian poet who has published five or more poetry books.
